When? I’ve been shooting for about 5 years now. Seriously for about 3.
How? I really don’t know how to answer that. I took a black and white class at camp the summer before my freshman year of high school and fell in love in the darkroom. And ever since then… I’ve had a camera in my hand. It just felt natural to me. I love it.
Routines get old and sometimes you just get sick of work, school, the same things that always seem to occupy your life.
Have you ever felt like getting away? Leaving everything behind and just going somewhere different to experience something new?
Who hasn’t felt the need to experience new things? I always try to reach outside of my comfort zone for that fact. When people get stuck in their routines it’s not hard to create space for new things. I feel like it’s mostly a mental block. Lack of time, energy, and space are really good at making it seem hard to break out at times. But you can find amazing things in small actions. Not all change is big or sudden. Most change happens overtime, so much so that we tend to overlook it.
On getting away. I love Seattle and all but I know that one day I will have to leave it, at least for a while, to grow. I really would like to live in Brooklyn for a few years. I almost went to college there and I feel like it really fit me. Or maybe even somewhere in SoCal.
